Bei Freunden --- visiting friends

Wer gerne einrichtet, verspürt früher oder später den Drang, seine bisherige Umgebung zu verändern - entweder man zieht dann um oder man verpasst seiner Wohnung ein Upgrade. Meine Freundin, deren Wohnung ich Euch im Februar 2011 gezeigt habe (Link hier), hat nun letzteres getan. Das Ergebnis ist wundervoll glamourös geworden, so richtig Hollywood Regency Stil (Link hier):

If you like interior design you'll want to change your environment every so often: either you'll then have to move or you'll try to uprade your current home. My friend, whoms place I had posted pictures of in February 2011 (follow this link), has now done the latter and given her interior quite a do-over. Ich hatte vor einiger Zeit einen Post zu skandinavisch eingerichteten Badezimmern gemacht (Link zum Post hier) und war von der Schlichtheit des Designs fasziniert - ich musste das Konzept also unbedingt in meinem Badezimmer umsetzen, wissend, dass es mir schwer fallen könnte, wirklich bei der Schlichtheit zu bleiben. Nun, ich habe es jedenfalls versucht und bin mit dem Ergebnis wirklich sehr zufrieden. Bitte entschuldigt die schlechte Bildqualität, meine Kamera ist in Räumen, die nicht mit Tageslicht beleuchtet werden, einfach überfordert... Jedenfalls habe ich im Vergleich zur bisherigen Deko (Link zum Post hier) doch ziemlich reduziert! Am Besten gefällt mir das Ensemble auf dem Lavabo, wo ich den Behälterteil einer DRAGAN-Box zunächst mit Klebeband wasserdicht und danach bepflanzt habe und den Deckel der Box nun als kleines Tablett für meine Beautyprodukte verwende. Was das weisse Regal angeht, so wollte ich zunächst eine nicht ganz günstige Ausführung bei FLY kaufen, bin dann aber doch auf eine günstigere Variante umgestiegen, um mehr Budget für Dekorationen und neue Bade- und Handtücher zu haben. Auf das Regal kommt dann noch eine Sukkulente im Betontopf (zum Post "Betontöpfe" geht's hier), leider konnte ich bislang noch keinen passenden Topf finden...


A while ago I posted about scandinavian style bathrooms (follow this link) and I was so fascinated by the puristic design that I had to apply the idea to my bathroom, knowing that I would propably have a hard time sticking to the puristic part. Well, I did try to reduce (check out the former decor by following this link) and I'm quite happy with the result. Please excuse the horrible picture quality but my camera is hopelessly lost in rooms without daylight... What I like best is the ensemble on the sink; I've waterproofed the conatiner part of a DRAGAN box with sticky tape and then planted some cactii in it and the lid of the box I'm using as a small tray for my beauty products. At first I wanted to buy a quite pricey white shelf but then I went for a cheaper version to have enough money for decor and new bathroom textiles. I'll be putting a succulent on top of the shelf but I haven't found the right concrete planter for it yet (check out my post on concrete planters by following this link)...

Im März diesen Jahres hatte ich Euch Bilder einiger Kränze gezeigt (Link hier). Auch wenn Kränze ziemlich klassisch - um nicht zu sagen altbacken - wirken können, schien mr das grössere Übel noch immer meine graue Eingangstür. Ich hatte ja immernoch den Kranz aus Holzzweigen, den ich bereits zu Ostern 2011 eingesetzt hatte (Link hier), und habe ihn nun mit ein paar wenigen weissen Stoffblumen verziert. Stoffblumen bewegen sich zwar regelmässig an der Grenze zum schlechten Geschmack, aber ich muss in diesem Zusammenhang doch nochmal mit Nachdruck erwähnen, wie traurig meine Eingangstür aussieht. Nun sieht das Ganze doch schon viel einladender aus...

In March I showed you some inspirational pictures of wreaths (follow this link). And although wreaths can easily look dated I felt that my entry door was just too sad of a sight to leave it that way. So I dug out the plain wooden wreath that I had already used once for Easter 2011 (follow this link) and decorated it with a few white fabric flowers. Admittadly fabric flowers are generally on the verge of bad taste but I can't stress enough how sad my entry door looked. This way the big gray wall looks so much more inviting...

Ich habe vor Kurzem über Kelim-Muster gepostet (Link hier) und das nicht ganz uneigennützig, denn kürzlich durfte ich mir einen Kelim meiner Mutter unter den Nagel reissen. Kaum zu glauben, dass sie ihn bei IKEA gekauft hat... Hier seht Ihr nun das Resultat - mein neuer Essbereich:

Ich hatte ja kürzlich einen Beitrag über Kommoden als Nachttische gepostet (Link hier) und da kam mir plötzlich die Idee, dass ich vielleicht mein kleines Expeditregal, das bislang als TV-Bank gedient hatte, neben meinem Sofa anstelle der ach so konventionellen Beistelltische platzieren könnte. Gut, direkt daneben sah es dann doch nicht soooo gut aus, aber an der angrenzenden Wand dafür umso mehr! So konnte ich wiedermal ein kleines Stilleben arrangieren und die zweite Laura Ashley-Wandlampe (die andere ist in meinem Flur, Link hier) kann endlich auch wieder zum Zug kommen. Als Griffe habe ich mir Lukenhaken, die eigentlich für Schiffe gedacht sind, bestellt. Na gut, es ist nicht ganz Campaign-Style (Link zum Post hier), sieht doch aber ganz anständig aus...

Just the other day I posted about bedside dressers (follow this link) and all of the sudden I was really unhappy with my small expedit chest that's been sitting in the living room as a tv stand. So I figured I could apply the idea to my sofa and make a "sofa side dresser". Ok, it didn't look all too great right next to the sofa but it does look really nicely on the cornering wall. This way I got to create a new vignette plus the second Laura Ashley sconce (the other one is in my entry way, follow this link) got a space again. I applied recessed pulls onto the expedit which actually came from a ship supplier - sadly they're not entirely campaign style (follow this link) but it'll do for now...

Ich hatte mal einen Post über genial designte Alkoholflaschen gemacht (Link hier) und am Ende des Beitrags auch ein Bild einer Bar im Regal gepostet. Mir hat es diese Idee so sehr angetan, dass ich sie unbedingt umsetzen wollte, aber ich hatte ja bereits meinen kleinen Bartisch im Wohnzimmer (Link hier). Nun musste ich für einen zusätzlichen Louis Ghost-Stuhl, den ich geschenkt bekommen habe, Platz machen und packte die Gelegenheit beim Schopf, meine Bar im Regal unterzubringen. Dabei habe ich auch gleich die Gunst der Stunde genutzt und mal ein wenig ausgemistet:

The other day I received another louis ghost chair and had to make space for it in the living room, so what better moment to actually get my bookcase bar! I also took advantage of the opportunity and decluttered my bookcase:

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich einen Beitrag über marmoriertes Papier gemacht (Link hier) und hatte Euch in dem Post auch ein paar Beispielbilder von eingerahmten Marmorpapierblättern gezeigt. Nach diesem Post hatte ich mir für meine Wohnung über Paper Mojo (Link hier) solche Blätter bestellt, wusste bislang aber nicht so richtig, was ich damit machen sollte. Heute hatte ich dann endgültig genug von meinen eingerahmten Einkaufstaschen im Flur (Bilder findet Ihr hier) und habe beschlossen, die Taschen mit dem marmorierten Papier zu ersetzen. Das Ergebnis gefällt mir sehr gut. Ich muss allerdings sagen, dass so ziemlich alle Bilder gut mit meiner sensationellen Wandleuchte von Laura Ashley aussehen. Ich hatte sie und ein Pendant im ehemaligen Laura Ashley Geschäft in Basel für CHF 200.-- (im Sale!!!) gekauft und befürchtete zunächst, einen total überteuerten Kauf getätigt zu haben. Mittlerweile sind sie aber die elegantesten Leuchten in meiner Wohnung, die jeden Rappen wert waren:

Quite some time ago I made a post about marbled paper (follow this link) and also showed you some pictures of framed marbled paper sheets. After that post I bought two of these sheets through paper mojo (follow this link) but up until now I didn't know what to do with them. Today I got so fed up with the framed shopping bags in my entry way (you can see pictures of them here) that I replaced them with the marbled paper sheets. I really love the result! I must admit though that almost anything would look good with my sensational Laura Ashley sconce. I had bought this one and a matching one at the local Laura Ashley store in Basel (which doesn't exist anymore) for CHF 200.-- all together (that was actually the SALE price!!!). Back then I feared that I had bought something way too pricey that I wouldn't be able to make proper use of but now the sconce is the most elegant lamp in my apartment and so it was worth every penny:

Letzte Woche habe ich über Dekorationen mit Schmuck gepostet (Link hier) und angekündigt, dass ich diese Idee in meiner Wohnung nachmachen will. Leider habe ich kein passendes Armband gefunden, um diese Hammeridee mit der Lampe nachzumachen, dafür kann ich nun der Kette, die meine Mutter früher immer getragen hat und die ich so liebe, zu neuem Glanz verhelfen! Und mein Goldspiegel im Flur hat nun eine Art Diadem erhalten:

Last week I posted about decorating with jewelry (follow this link) and vowed to apply this decoration idea in my own apartment. Sadly I haven't found any nice bracelet yet to copy the wowster-idea of decorating a table lamp but I did finally find the perfect spot for the necklace that my mom used to wear and that I love so much. Plus my golden mirror in the entry way has received a kind of tiara with this rose coloured necklace:

Ebenfalls letzte Woche habe ich über Sukkulenten (Link hier) und gemischte Vasen (Link hier) gepostet. Leider ist die Sukkulente im chinesischen Töpfchen nicht mehr ganz so schön, aber sie wegwerfen, nur weil sie nicht perfekt ist, kommt absolut nicht in Frage. Also habe ich sie mit einer Kaktee in einem weissen Topf zusammen getan und auf meinem neuen Beistelltisch (die Idee hatte ich Euch im Post vom 11. Januar gezeigt, Link hier) arrangiert:

One of my succulents in this chinese planter doesn't look so nice anymore, but throwing it away just because it's less than perfect is absolutely out of the question. So I put a cactus in a white planter next to it and put both of them onto my new goldtone side table which I told you about in my post of January 11th (follow this link):

Gerade erst habe ich über Dekorationen auf Couchtischen gepostet (Link hier) - und war mit meinem eigenen Couchtisch plötzlich gar nicht mehr zufrieden. Nun hatte ich kürzlich eine Seepocke auf ebay erstanden, die ich für meinen Shop nutzen wollte, aber als sie dann angekommen war, stellte sich heraus, dass sie viel zu gross für meine Zwecke ist. Aber dafür die perfekte Grösse für mein neues Couchtisch-Arrangement hat! Zusammen mit ein paar Heften, meinen beiden Kunstfiguren (s. Post "twosome", Link hier), einer meiner Lackschatullen mit Amethystscheibe und einer Karaffe, die ich mal in Italien gekauft hatte, kommt mein Couchtisch endlich wieder richtig schön zur Geltung.

Just the other day I posted about coffee table styling (follow this link) - and all of the sudden I wasn't happy at all with my own coffee table anymore. Recently I had bought a barnacle cluster through ebay so I could use it for one of my shop items, but when it arrived it turned out to be way too big for my initial plans. But it had the perfect size for my new coffee table vignette! Together with a few magazines, my two figurines (check out the post "twosome", follow this link), one of my black lacquer boxes with an amethyst slice and a decanter, that I had bought in Italy, my coffee table now shines in new glory.

Vor längerer Zeit schon hatte ich zudem über Serviertische und -Wagen gepostet (Link hier) und dieser Beitrag ist und bleibt einer meiner liebsten. Kaum vorstellbar, dass es so lange gedauert hat, bis ich mir nun meine eigene kleine Hausbar zugelegt habe! Als ich vor kurzem wieder mal in meinem Keller war, entdeckte ich den weissen Klapptisch mit Chrombeinen und da fiel es mir plötzlich wie Schuppen von den Augen - der perfekte Serviertisch.

It's been a while since I posted about serving tables and carts (aka bar carts;  follow this link) and that is and always will be one of my favourite posts. All the more incredible that it took me this long to get my own little house bar! A few weeks ago I was in my cellar and noticed a white fold up table with chrome legs and that's when I realized what a perfect bar table this would make.
