Sabra Pillows

Lang ist's her, dass ich von schwarzen Passepartouts in Bilderrahmen berichtet habe (Link hier) - stets in Erinnerung geblieben ist mir aber das wunderschöne Kissen, das auf dem zweiten Bild in jenem Post zu sehen war. Vor einiger Zeit habe ich dann ein ebensolches Kissen auf einem von Cassandra Lavalles Bildern auf ihrem Blog Coco + Kelley (Link hier) gesehen und war sofort (wieder) Feuer und Flamme dafür. Wie ich herausgefunden habe, handelt es sich um sogenannte Sabra Kissen, die aus Kaktusseide gemacht sind. Wenn Ihr meinen Blog verfolgt habt, dann wisst Ihr, dass ich Ethno-Stoffe liebe und diese Sabra Kissen sind keine Ausnahme! Wie immer, sind auch sie nicht ganz günstig, aber immerhin u.a. auf Etsy einigermassen gut erhältlich für unsere Breitengrade.

Long ago I posted about black frame mats (link here) - since then I hadn't forgotten about the beautiful cushion pictured on the second image in that post. The other day I saw one of Cassandra Lavalle's pictures, the founder of Coco + Kelley blog (link here), which also showed a pillow of that kind. Of course my excitement for these pillows was straight back all over again. I've since found out that these pillows are called sabra pillows and they're made of cactus silk. If you've been reading my blog you know how much I love ethnic fabrics and prints and these pillows are no exception! As usual these pillows aren't exactly cheap, but at least they're available through Etsy at reasonable prices.

Indigo Mud Cloth

Andere sind modisch immer up to date und stylish gekleidet, ich hingegen begeistere mich in aller Regel für alle neuen Trends in der Welt der Einrichtung. Dabei mache ich mir nichts vor; meine Begeisterung für gewisse Trends ist definitiv Resultat von intensiver Medien-Beeinflussung. Man könnte mich also als eigentliches "Fashionvictim" bezeichnen... Meine momentane Aufmerksamkeit gilt dabei dem sogenannten Mud Cloth - zu Deutsch: Mali-Tuch, denn dort stammen die guten Stücke her. In Mali von Hand gefärbt, ist keines dieser rauen Textilien dem anderen gleich und es gibt sie in unterschiedlich verwitterter Form. Ich hatte ja bereits einen Post über die geometrisch bedruckte Schwarz-Weiss-Variante von Mud Cloth gemacht (Link hier). Die folgenden Bilder zeigen nun die Indigo-Version dieses wundervollen Stoffes. Einige der Bilder erinnern stark an Shibori-Stoff, den ich natürlich ebenfalls liebe... Leider ist Mud Cloth generell nicht ganz günstig, einigermassen erschwingliche Teile findet Ihr - wie immer - auf Etsy. Natürlich habe ich mir ein solches Tuch gekauft (Cyber Monday sei dank!) und werde es wahrscheinlich als Bezug für einen Sessel, eine Bank oder einen Hocker oder schlicht als kleinen Teppich verwenden. Hier nun einige Bilder dieses Trends:

And I'm not kidding myself; I'm well aware that my excitement for certain trends is mainly media-made, so you could call me a true fashion victim... My current obsession evolves around mud cloth. Hand dyed in Mali, no piece of textile is like the other and they exist in different grades of a distressed look. I've posted about the black and white version of this cloth with its geometric prints before (link here) and now I'd like to show you the indigo version of it. Some of these pictures really remind me of shibori fabric which I also love of course. Unfortunately mud cloth accessories are quite pricey, some affordable items can be found through Etsy though, as always. Of course I did get me one of these fabrics (Cyber Monday, I love you!) and I'm planning on using it as an upholstery fabric on a chair, bench or stool or even as a small rug. Indigo

Nachdem wir den Mietvertrag für unsere neue Wohnung unterschrieben hatten, liefen meine Gedanken rund um die zukünftige Einrichtung amok. Ich hatte so viele Vorstellungen und Pläne - wenn ich daran zurückdenke, wird mir klar, dass ich doch eine ganze Menge davon nicht, oder noch nicht, umgesetzt habe. Was ich mir aber seit dem Post "der Groschen ist endgültig gefallen" (Link hier) vorgenommen hatte, wollte ich unbedingt umsetzen. Und so strich ich ALLE Wände in unserem Schlafzimmer in diesem dunklen Indigo. Fast 1.5 unserer Wände sind allerdings Fenster, so dass der Raum doch ziemlich lichtdurchflutet ist. Aber mal abgesehen von all dem: wir haben nun eine wundervoll beruhigende und irgendwie umarmende Schlafhöhle! Und das Zusammenspiel von Indigo und Holz gefällt mir auch sehr gut.

Hier nur einige wenige Bilder von unserem "Sideboard". Es besteht aus dem Kopfteil unseres Holzbetts, wobei wir einfach vier Rollen an die Unterseite geschraubt haben. Die eingerahmten Stoffbahnen sind übrigens thailändischer Hmong-Stoff. 

After having signed the rental contract for our apartment my thoughts around our future decor immediately started to explode in my head. I had so many ideas - thinking about it now I realize I've really only managed to implement a handful of them. Something that I was totally keen on doing since I had posted about it (link here) was painting dark bedroom walls though. So I painted ALL of our bedroom walls in this dark indigo color. Ok, 1.5 walls of the bedroom are actually windows so the room is still filled with light, but nonetheless we have a wonderfully hugging and soothing sleeping cave now. Plus I really like the color interaction of the indigo with the wood.

Here are only a few pictures of our "sideboard". It's the head piece from our wooden bed to which we've attached 4 rolls at the bottom. The two framed fabrics are thai Hmong fabric.

Etsy Shop: OrientalTribe11

Ich habe in der Vergangenheit schon einige Male über ethnische Muster gepostet (zum Post "Kilim Love" geht's hier; zum Post "Ethnic Prints" hier). Nachdem ich nun den Kelim meiner Mutter an prominenter Stelle im Essbereich platziert hatte (zum Post geht's hier), musste für meinen Louis Ghost-Stuhl von Philippe Starck ein passendes Kissen her. Im Zuge der Suche auf Etsy bin ich auch auf der Shop-Seite von OrientalTribe11  (Link hier) gelandet und war von den Kissenbezügen begeistert! Ich liebe die Mischung aus traditionellen ethnischen Mustern und modernen Farben:

After having placed my mom's kilim prominently in the dining area I had to find a matching pillow for one of my Louis Ghost chairs by Philippe Starck. During my search on Etsy I came across the Etsy Shop OrientalTribe11 (follow this link) and fell in love with the pillow cases! I just love the combination of traditional ethnic prints and vibrant modern colours:

Ich habe vor Kurzem über Kelim-Muster gepostet (Link hier) und das nicht ganz uneigennützig, denn kürzlich durfte ich mir einen Kelim meiner Mutter unter den Nagel reissen. Kaum zu glauben, dass sie ihn bei IKEA gekauft hat... Hier seht Ihr nun das Resultat - mein neuer Essbereich:
